Program Goal A Mandate to reach every disaster victims, aiming to reduce vulnerability, improve risk perceptions and build coping capacities, while taking in to account the issues of gender, equity and human rights. Objective: Reduction in community disaster vulnerability and strengthen crisis coping capacity of CSOs of Orissa

1. Promote and coordinate disaster preparedness work undertaken by various institutions and CSOs
2. Identify and fill gaps to ensure better response to disaster at all levels
3. Improve coherence of disaster response at all levels
4. Promote disaster preparedness within development and develop cooperation policies for inter community responses, NGO and GO responses, corporate sectors responses
5. Undertake micro projects with demonstrable affect
6. Promote cooperation among other agencies involved in disaster preparedness
7. Develop people centric public policy on disaster management and Policy advocacy
8. Advocacy with corporate sectors to under take responsibilities of disaster management of the specified area
9. Ensure low cost Science and technology support and indigenous disaster coping mechanisms with easy access by the CSOs and individuals
10. Implementation of disaster related programs through local governments

  Samabndh has practical experience of relief and long term rehabilitation since post super-cyclone phase in 1999.
