Village energy security programme:
During 2007-08, the village Bhalupani, which is a remote hamlet in fringe areas of Similipal forest, has been completely electrified with assistance from MNRE. A biomass-gasifier based electricity generating system is now totally catering to the residents of the hamlet who were previously using kerosene for cooking. Besides, 5 biogas plants & 44 improved chulhas are being used for cooking purpose. A Village Energy Committee has been formed which is looking after the Management of the project and has taken up energy plantation to make the project sustainable. Drawing parallel from this success, we are in the process of taking up another village named Bhaliguda for electrification in the same format. This programme has a given
LaBL: We are involved in lighting the households with solar lanterns where grid has still not reached after the independence of more than 60 years. We have almost reached 1000
households in Mayurbhanj and Cuttack districts. Still we are progressing in that line as we have joined the campaign of lighting a billion households with TERI. |
