She belongs to marginal farmer category of tribal family from Bhalupani village in Dhalabani Panchayat in Mayurbhanj district. She has now planned how to get the maximum production from the land on rotation basis on paddy, pulses, vegetable, oil seed(Til/Mustard) cultivation for increasing food security at marginal farmer household level. Her income has been increased by 40% from the previous situation.

WATER HARVESTING BRINGS A NEW HOPE TOWARDS HIS SUSTAINABILITY

Chatiram Murmu, S/o-Late Hambir Murmu, Age-57 belonging to village-Bhalupani of Dhalabani Gram Panchayat has 9 members in his family. He possesses 2.5 acres of land out of which only .5acres of land are cultivable and rest are unbunded undulating uplands. Apart from agriculture, he also depends on firewood selling & daily wage. After construction of Water Harvesting Structure by Sambandh in the overhead of his land, he developed the undulated upland to plane cultivation land and could cultivate Kharif upland Paddy & Rabi vegetables. Sambandh has provided a support of Rs.1600/-( In terms of seeds, Fertilizer & Pesticides) in Rabi season for 0.20 acre of land. To this amount he added Rs.800/- as his own contribution. So the total investment was Rs.2400/-. During that season he got an amount of Rs.6000/- from Rabi crops & vegetables. He was profited by Rs3600/-. Now he is planned to cultivate cabbage, Cauli flower & Tomato in Rabi season in 1 acre of land & expecting to get Rs.20000/- from the cultivation
